NÓTA ón mBORD/NOTE from the BOARD OF MANAGEMENT

A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Mar is eol daoibh, tá feachtas toghcháin ar siúl, agus toghcháin socraithe don 29 Samhain. Gan dabht, beidh go leor agaibh ag fáil canbhasálaithe ag an doras nó ag bualadh leo ar an tsráid. Ba mhaith leis an mBord go ndéanfadh tuismitheoirí abhcóideacht ar son an oideachais leis na hionadaithe polaitiúla ar na hábhair seo a leanas:

  • Thar aon ní eile, ba mhaith linn go n-ardóidh sibh ceist an fhoirgnimh scoile nua le polaiteoirí agus canbhasálaithe. Cé go bhfuil an Bord sásta go bhfuil tionscadal ar siúl, tá frustrachas orainn leis an t-am atá caite, beagnach 2 bhliain go leith, agus an dul chun cinn atá déanta, gan iarratas pleanála curtha isteach go fóill. Fiafraigh, le do thoil, cad is féidir leo a dhéanamh chun é seo a bhrostú.
  • Ceisteanna maidir leis an ghaeloideachas, féach ar an mbileog Ghaeloideachas a ghabhann leis seo, agus
  • Méadú ar mhaoiniú do chostais scoile laethúla – is mór an náire é go mbíonn ar scoileanna fós ranníocaí deonacha a iarraidh, agus airgead a thiomsú, le haghaidh bunriachtanas oideachais.

Dear parents

As you know, the country is in the throes of an election campaign, with polling day set for the 29th November. Undoubtedly, many of you will be receiving canvassers at the door or meeting them on the street. The Board would like parents to advocte for Education with the political representatives on the following topics:

  • Above all, we want you to raise the issue of the new school building with politicians and canvassers. The Board, while welcoming the fact that a project is in progress, is particularly frustrated by the length of and the apparent tardiness of a process which is now almost 2 and a half years running, with no application for planning yet submitted. Please ask what they can do to speed this up.
  • Issues in regard to Irish-medium education, see the attached sheet from Gaeloideachas, and
  • Increased funding for day to day school expenses – it is ridiculous that schools STILL have to ask for voluntary contributions and fundraise for baisc educational necessities.

Le meas,
Bord Bainistíochta na scoile
