SEACHTAIN AN MHATA 2024
Seo Seachtain an Mhata ar scoil (http://www.mathsweek.ie/) Beidh gníomhaíochtaí áirithe ar siúl ag na ranganna ar fad i rith na seachtaine chun ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar Mhata. Gníomhaíocht amháin gur féidir a dhéanamh sa bhaile ná ‘Súile Mata’ áit ar féidir leat do shúile a úsáid chun Mata a aimsiú sa saol laethúil. Mar shampla:
• Cruth agus Spás: An raon cruthanna a úsáidtear, i gcomhthéacs an dúlra agus an fhíorshaoil, a aithint.
• Uimhir: Ár n-úsáid de chiall uimhreach, meastachán, agus straitéisí le haghaidh comhairimh – fiú mar a roinnimid cáca nó píotsa le teaghlach agus cairde!
• Tomhais: Tomhais, am agus airgead sa domhan thart orainn.
• Sonraí agus Seans: Úsáideann tuairiscí nuachta nó na meáin cairteacha agus táblaí ar gá iad a léirmhíniú (m.sh. táblaí spóirt nó sraithe, torthaí suirbhéanna, etc.).
• Ailgéabar: Tá patrúin timpeall orainn, marcanna bóthair agus comharthaí, an bealach a gcuirtear crainn nó toir, paitió, dearadh fál agus geata, torthaí CLG nó rugbaí.
Bain úsáid as do shúile Mata, tóg grianghraf (nó grianghraif), priontáil é agus seol isteach le do Pháiste é nó mar mhalairt air sin, seol ríomhphost chuig an scoil nó chuig an múinteoir ranga.
Beidh crannchur againn ar an Aoine dóibh siúd a chuireann freagra isteach (ticéad amháin ar fáil gach lá) http://ww2.cnocnare.net/sm2024/
This week is Maths Week (http://www.mathsweek.ie/). All classes will be doing certain activities during the week to celebrate. One activity that can be done at home is ‘Maths Eyes’ where you can use your eyes to find Maths in everyday life. For example:
• Shape and Space: Recognising the range of shapes used in nature and real-world contexts.
• Number: Our use of number sense, estimation, and strategies for counting – even how we share a cake or pizza with family and friends!
• Measures: Measurements, time, and money in the world around us.
• Data and Chance: News reports or media include charts and tables that need to be interpreted (e.g., sports or league tables, survey results, etc.).
• Algebra: Patterns surround us, road markings and signs, the way trees or shrubs are planted, patio, fence and gate designs, GAA or rugby scores.
Using your Maths eyes, take a photo (or photos), print it, and send it in with your child or email it to the school or class teacher. We will make a compilation of all the pictures on Friday and select some of the best for prizes. See also https://haveyougotmathseyes.com/
Also, each afternoon we will post a simple puzzle which can be done at home. Send the answers and we will have a raffle on Friday for those who participate (one ticket available each day): DE LUAIN 14/10/2024 See puzzle @ http://ww2.cnocnare.net/sm2024/

BRISEADH LÁR TÉARMA/MID-TERM & TRICK OR TREAT FOR TEMPLE STREET
Beidh an scoil ag dúnadh ar an Aoine 25ú Deireadh Fómhair ag an gnáth am i gcóir briseadh lár téarma. Athosclóidh sí arís Dé Luain 4ú Samhain. Ar an 25ú, beidh cead ag na páistí gléasadh i bhfeisteas Oíche Shamhna. Is fearr go mbeidh siad gléasta ag teacht ar scoil. Lorgaímid síntúis beag ón gclann más féidir, d’ Ospidéal Temple Street agus CAIRDE. Níl cead bia a roinnt ach tá cead acu ‘treat’ beag a thabhairt leo don lón. Tá cosc ar chnóanna, áfach.
School will close on Friday 25th October at the normal times for the mid-term break, and will re-open on Monday 6th November. On the 25th the children will be allowed to dress up in Halloween costumes etc. It is preferable if they can come to school already dressed up. Each year we ask for a small donation (€2-5 per child/€10 MAX per family), if possible, for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and CAIRDE. Sharing food is not allowed but they are allowed to bring a small ‘treat’ for lunch NO NUTS, HOWEVER.
