COMHGHAIRDEAS!
Comhghairdeas le Matthew (Naí Shinsir) agus Ronan (R1) a ghnóthaigh aitheantas speisialta i gcomórtas Ealaíne Texaco le déanaí.
Congratulations to Matthew (Senior Infants) and Ronan (R1) who won special commendations in the Texaco Art competition recently.

Is mór an trua é ach iarraimid oraibh nach scaipfaidh na páistí cártaí Nollag ag na páistí eile mar a bhí mar nós blianta eile. Molaimid síntúis a thabhairt do bhiliúcháin SVP ata ar siúl sa scoil um Nollaig seo. Freisin, meabhraímid arís nach chóir bréagáin d’aon short a thabhairt ar scoil. Míle Buíochas!
Unfortunately we must ask that the children do not distribute Christmas cards to the other children as has been the custom in previous years. We encourage you instead to donate to the SVP collection which is taking place in the school this Christmas. Also, a reminder that toys, of any kind, should not be brought to school. Míle Buíochas!

Iarraimid arís nach dtiocfaidh aon pháiste ar scoil roimh 8.40 ach go mbeidh gach duine ar scoil faoi 9 gach maidin, Tá na socraithe ar maidin agus tráthnóna ag obair go maith agus táimid thar a bheith buíoch díbh as bhur gcomhoibriú linn.
We again ask that no children arrive at school before 8.40 but that everyone be at school by 9 every morning. The morning and evening arrangements are working well and we are extrememly grateful for your co – operation.

Cruinnithe Tuistí-Múinteoirí/Parent-Teacher Meetings
Beidh tuairisc lár na bliana ar dhul chun cinn gach dalta ar Aladdin ar an MHÁIRT 8ú. Rachaidh múinteoirí i dteagmháil le tuismitheoirí má tá gnéithe áirithe den tuairisc gur gá plé a dheanamh orthu (mura bhfuil seo déanta cheana féin acu). Tá fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí ar mian leo a n-imní féin a phlé nó tuilleadh eolais a lorg glaoch teileafóin a lorg ón mhúinteoir, a dhéanfar chomh luath agus is féidir. Tá nagnáthbhealaí cumarsáide fós ar fáil i rith na bliana ar ndóigh agus níl siad teoranta don tréimhse seo amháin. Le bhur dtoil, ná bain úsáid as uimhir phearsanta mhúinteora. Go raibh maith agaibh as bhur dtuiscint agus bhur gcomhoibriú.
Mid-year progress report for all pupils will be available on Aladdin next TUESDAY 8th. Teachers will contact parents if there are certain aspects of the report that need to be discussed (if not already done before now). Parents who wish to discuss their own concerns or seek further information are welcome to request a phone call from the teacher which we will return as soon as is practicable. Normal channels of communication are of course available throughout the year and not confined to this period only. Please do not use personal numbers of teachers to make contact. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

FOGHLAIM DIGITEACH/DIGITAL LEARNING – Spellings for Me, Accelerated Reader/MyON
Is clár litrithe aonair é ‘Spellings for Me’ a dhíríonn ar na focail a mbíonn deacrachtaí ag gach páiste litriú a dhéanamh orthu, seachas liosta focal. Tá béim faoi leith ar chumas an pháiste seachas aois nó an rang ina bhfuil sé/sí. Bíonn cuid déanta ar líne agus cuid eile ‘as líne’. Ar líne, déanann páistí tástálacha litrithe agus as seo tógann siad liosta pearsantaithe litrithe. Sa rang, úsáideann siad leabhar oibre a chothaíonn foghlaim difreáilte. Tacaíonn múinteoirí leis na páistí trí raon gníomhaíochtaí a chur ar fáil dóibh gur féidir a úsáid chun cabhrú leo litriú a fhoghlaim.
Spellings for Me is an individualised spelling programme which focuses on the words each child has difficulty in spelling, rather than a generic word list. The focus is on the child’s’ ability rather than age or the class they are in. It has an online and offline component. Online, children complete spelling tests and from this they build up a personalised list of spellings. Offline, they use a workbook which allows for differentiated learning. Teachers support the children by providing them with a range of activities that can be used to help learn spellings.

Is clár ar líne é Accelerated Reader chun monatóireacht, bainistíocht agus cur chun cinn a dhéanamh ar léitheoireacht neamhspleách. Ar dtús, déantar páiste a mheas chun a leibhéal léitheoireachta a fháil amach. Tar éis an mheasúnaithe, is féidir le páiste rochtain a fháil ar myON, leabharlann ar líne a thugann rochtain dóibh ar bheagnach 6,000 leabhar. Moltar leabhair don pháiste, bunaithe ar a spéiseanna agus leibhéal léitheoireachta. Tacaíonn foclóirí ionsuite agus clos-éisteacht le léamh na leabhar seo. Nuair a bhíonn leabhar críochnaithe ag páiste, freagraíonn siad tráth na gceist. Tá tráth na gceist ann freisin atá bunaithe ar leabhair seachas na leabhair atá ar fáil ar myON. Is féidir le múinteoirí an fhaisnéis seo go léir a úsáid chun spriocanna a leagan síos, dul chun cinn a rianú agus obair thionscadail a thabhairt do pháistí.
Accelerated Reader is online programme for monitoring, managing and promoting independent reading. Initially, a child is assessed to discover their reading level. Following assessment, a child can access myON, an online library that gives them access to almost 6,000 books. Books are suggested to the child, based on the child’s interests and reading level. Reading of these books is supported by built-in dictionaries and listen-along audio. Once a child has finished a book, they answer a quiz. There are also quizzes based on books other than those available on myON. All of this information can be used by teachers to set targets, track progress and assign project work to children.
