NUACHTLITIR 2 MEITHEAMH (JUNE) 2021

Turasanna/ Tours
Tá áthas orainn a rá go n-eagrófar turasanna scoile i mbliana ach go mbeidh srianta i gceist. Tá treoracha na Roinne thíos mar eolas. Cé go mbeidh ranganna áirithe ag dul ag an áit céanna ar an lá céanna, ní bheidh siad ag meascadh le chéile agus tá orainn busanna móra a úsáid le gach rang, a chuireann leis an gcostas beagáinín. Dár ndóigh, tá dul ar thuras roghnach ach bí cinnte go lenfaidh an scoil agus an ionad na rialacháin maidir le sláinteachais go hiomlan. Cuirfear foirmeacha ceada abhaile le na páistí inniu. Cuirigí ar ais iad a luaithe agus is féidir le bhur dtoil.

  • Naíonáin go R2 – Castle Adventure ar an 10/6/2021 – €20
  • R3, R6 – Zipit, Lough Key ar an 10/6/2021 – €25
  • R4(Liz)/5, R5 – Zipit, Lough Key ar an 11/6/2021 – €25
  • R4(Donna) – Zipit, Lough Key ar an 14/6/2021 – €25

We are pleased to say that school trips will be organised this year subject to restrictions. The Department’s instructions are shown below for information. While some classes will be going to the same place on the same day, they will not mix together and we have to use large buses with each class, which adds to the cost slightly. Of course, going on a trip is optional but be assured the school and centres will follow the hygiene regulations in full. Permission forms will be sent home with the children today and tomorrow. Please return them as soon as possible.

  • Infants to R2 – Castle Adventure on 10/6/2021 – € 20
  • R3, R6 – Zipit, Lough Key on 10/6/2021 – € 25
  • R4 / 5, R5 – Zipit, Lough Key on 11/6/2021 – € 25
  • R4 – Zipit, Lough Key on 14/6/2021 – € 25

Lá Spóirt/ Sports Day
Ní bheidh Lá Spóirt ar an ngnáthchaoi i mbliana, faoi láthair tá gach rang ag glacadh páirt i sraith imeachtaí go laethúil/seachtainiúil (mar chuid den Bóthar go Tokyo) a chríochnóidh le lá le haghaidh rásanna srl. de réir ranganna. Faraor, níl sé ceadaithe againn cuireadh a thabhairt do thuismitheoirí i mbliana (féach thíos).
Sports Day will not follow the usual format this year, Currently all classes are taking part in a series of daily / weekly events (as part of the Road to Tokyo initiative) which will culminate in a day for races etc. for each class. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to invite parents this year (see below).

Obair Bhaile/ Homework
Leanfar le obair bhaile foirmiúil le gach rang go dtí an Déardaoin 10ú Meitheamh. Níl sé roghnach agus bheimis buíoch go ndéanfaidh tuismitheoirí cinnte de go mbíonn sé déanta ag do pháiste de réir treoracha an mhúinteora.
Formal homework with each class will continue until Thursday 10th June. It is not optional and we would be grateful if parents will make sure that your child has done it according to the teacher ‘s instructions. Míle Buíochas!

Éide Scoile/ School uniform
Tá cead ag na páistí ag gnáthéide nó an culaith reatha a chaitheamh agus iraaimid nach gcaithidís gnáth éadaí, le bheith cothrom le gach éinne eile.
The children should only wear uniforms or tracksuits and we ask they would not wear normal/home clothes, to be fair to other children.

Department of Education Guidelines, 5/5/2021

School tours/ trips / use of buses
The Department has published guidance for schools that provide various teaching and learning approaches, including bringing pupils outdoors and to local amenities to enhance learning, support social distancing, promote physical activity and help positive wellbeing.

While from 10 May the easing of public health restriction provides for travel between counties, schools are encouraged to minimise the use of buses for school tours this year, to keep it local and avoid long trips. Where buses are involved in a school trip, it would be better to avoid whole year groups going on the same trip.

Decisions in relation to educational trips are a matter for each individual school authority and it is the responsibility of each school authority to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place while children are participating in school trips and that all such activities are in line with public health guidelines.

 Use of buses
With regard to guidance for private hire of transport services by schools (for school activities such as tours, sports activities, etc.), while such services are not within the remit of the Department’s School Transport Scheme and any such arrangements are a matter for schools to organise and manage locally, the Department advises that any private transport arrangements organised by a school should comply with the general guidelines for children using School Transport Scheme Services, which are:

  • Do not use transport if displaying obvious symptoms.
  • Maintain physical distancing while waiting for transport.
  • Always sit in pre-assigned seating which will be next to a sibling or a child from their class group where possible (this should be the same child at all times).
  • Use hand sanitiser prior to or on boarding the bus.
  • Observe respiratory etiquette at all times – cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and dispose of it properly, or by coughing or sneezing into their elbow while waiting for and on-board transport services.
  • Disembark the bus one by one in an orderly fashion.

 Contact Sports/ Sports Days
The Department has published guidance that that the use of external coaches or tutors is at the discretion of the board of management of a school, which must satisfy itself that these visitors are Garda vetted, adhere to public health advice, are trained by their governing bodies with regard to COVID-19 and fully implement the school’s COVID-19 response plan.

Sports days are an enjoyable part of the end of school term activities and help to form happy childhood memories of time spent in school. Schools can hold school sports days, without the attendance of parents or family members. Schools must ensure that sport days and all sporting activities are in accordance with the school’s COVID-19 response plan with particular emphases on holding such activities within the existing pods and bubble structure.

Turais scoile / úsáid a bhaint as busanna
D’fhoilsigh an Roinn treoir do scoileanna lena soláthraítear cineálacha éagsúla cur chuige teagaisc agus foghlama, lena n-áirítear daltaí a thabhairt amach faoin spéir agus chuig taitneamhachtaí áitiúla chun foghlaim a bhreisiú, tacú le scaradh sóisialta, gníomhaíocht fhisiciúil a chur chun cinn agus cabhrú le folláine dhearfach.

Cé go soláthrófar le maolú na srianta sláinte poiblí do thaisteal idir contaetha ón 10 Bealtaine ar aghaidh, moltar do scoileanna íoslaghdú a dhéanamh ar an úsáid a bhaineann siad as busanna le haghaidh turais scoile chun iad a choinneáil sa cheantar áitiúil agus turais fhada a sheachaint. I gcás go mbeidh busanna le húsáid ar thuras scoile, b’fhearr nach rachadh bliainghrúpaí iomlána ar an aon turas amháin.

Tá sé faoi gach údarás scoile aonair cinntí a dhéanamh ar thurais oideachasúla agus tá sé mar fhreagracht ar gach údarás scoile a chinntiú go bhfuil coimircí cuí i bhfeidhm le linn do leanaí bheith ar thurais scoile agus go bhfuil gach ceann de na gníomhaíochtaí sin ag teacht le treoirlínte sláinte poiblí.

 Úsáid a bhaint as busanna
Maidir leis an treoir i dtaca le seirbhísí iompair a bheith á bhfáil ar cíos go príobháideach ag scoileanna (le haghaidh gníomhaíochtaí scoile amhail turais, gníomhaíochtaí scoile, etc.), níl na seirbhísí sin faoi shainchúram Scéim Iompair Scoile na Roinne agus tá sé faoi scoileanna na socruithe sin a eagrú agus a bhainistiú ar leibhéal áitiúil. Dá ainneoin sin, molann an Roinn go mbeadh aon socruithe iompair phríobháidigh a n-eagraíonn scoileanna iad ag cloí leis na treoirlínte ginearálta don leanbh a úsáideann Seirbhísí na Scéime Iompair Scoile, atá mar a leanas:

  • Ná bain úsáid as iompar má tá siomptóim fhollasacha ort.
  • Coinnigh scaradh sóisialta ar bun agus tú ag fanacht le hiompar.
  • Suigh ar shuíochán réamhshannta, a bheidh in aice le deartháir nó deirfiúr nó le leanbh ó do ghrúpa ranga nuair is féidir (ba cheart an leanbh sin a bheith ar an aon leanbh amháin i ngach cás).
  • Bain úsáid as díghalrán láimhe roimh duit dul ar bhord an bhus nó ar dhul ar bhord an bhus duit.
  • Cloígh leis na béasa riospráide i gcónaí – clúdaigh casacht agus sraothartach le ciarsúr páipéir agus faigh réidh leis go cuí, nó déan casacht nó sraothartach isteach i d’uillinn agus tú ag fanacht le seirbhísí iompair agus ar bhord seirbhísí iompair.
  • Tuirling den bhus ar bhealach ordúil.

 Spóirt Teagmhála/ Laethanta Spóirt
D’fhoilsigh an Roinn treoir á cur in iúl gur faoi lánrogha bhord bainistíochta na scoile í úsáid a bhaint as cóitseálaithe seachtracha nó teagascóirí seachtracha. Ní mór don bhord bainistíochta a bheith deimhin de go ndéantar grinnfhiosrúchán an Gharda Síochána ar na cuairteoirí sin, go gcloíonn na cuairteoirí le comhairle sláinte poiblí, go gcuireann a gcomhlachtaí rialaithe oiliúint orthu i dtaca le COVID-19 agus go gcuireann siad plean freagartha na scoile do COVID-19 chun feidhme go hiomlán.

Is cuid thaitneamhach de ghníomhaíochtaí dheireadh an téarma scoile iad laethanta spórt agus is dea-chuimhní óige iad ar shaol scoile an duine. Is féidir le scoileanna laethanta spóirt scoile a chur ar siúl, ach ní féidir le tuismitheoirí ná baill teaghlaigh bheith i láthair acu. Ní mór do scoileanna a chinntiú go gcuirtear laethanta spóirt agus gach gníomhaíocht spóirt ar siúl i gcomhréir le plean freagartha na scoile do COVID-19, agus béim ar leith á leagan ar na gníomhaíochtaí sin a chur ar siúl laistigh de na meithleacha agus na bolgáin atá ann cheana.
