A chairde, (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)
Tá 3 sheachtain den chianfhoghlaim clúdaithe againn anois agus ba mhaith liom mo bhuíochas a chur in iúl do gach éinne, páistí, tuismitheoirí agus baill foirne don mhéad atá tarlaithe go seo. Táimid ag maireachtáil ar ndóigh in am gan fasach agus atá éiginnte. Tar éis filleadh rathúil ar scoil agus céad téarma an-táirgiúil in anneoin gach rud, dúnadh na scoileanna arís gan aon dáta cinnte fillte. Tá tús curtha arís leis an gcóras scolaíochta baile / cianfhoghlama nuair ab fhearr le gach duine againn a bheith ar ais sa seomra ranga agus dul i mbun teagaisc agus ‘gnáth’ foghlama. Creidim go hionraic go mbeimid ar ais ‘ar scoil’ níos luaithe seachas níos déanaí ach táimid ag fanacht le plean cuimsitheach ón Rialtas / Roinn. Bhí go leor nuachta agus tuairimíocht sna meáin ar an gceist seo le seachtainí beaga anuas ach níl aon dearcadh soiléir ann fós maidir le conas a rachaidh rudaí ar aghaidh. Idir an dá linn, ní féidir linn go léir ár ndícheall a dhéanamh agus tacú lena chéile.
Mar is eol dúinn mar fhoireann, tá cúinsí gach teaghlaigh difriúil ach tá leibhéil rannpháirtíochta ard agus tá nasc níos mó idir an scoil agus an baile an uair seo. Tuigim go bhfuil go leor teaghlach ag streachailt leis na castachtaí a bhaineann le bheith ag obair ón mbaile nó lasmuigh den bhaile agus ag obair lena gcuid leanaí féin freisin. Níl uainn ach go ndéanann daoine a ndícheall. Is paindéim é seo agus tá súil againn nach mbeidh orainn aghaidh a thabhairt ar rud éigin cosúil leis arís. Cé go bhfuil obair acadúil nó scoile tábhachtach ar ndóigh, tá sláinte agus folláine ann freisin. Cuir iad seo ar dtús, le do thoil, nuair a bhíonn deacrachtaí nó aincheisteanna agat maidir le foghlaim do pháiste. Bí cinnte go dtabharfar aghaidh ar bhearnaí ar bith ar fhoghlaim ar bhealach straitéiseach nuair a fhillfimid, ach ag an am céanna tugadh treor dúinn dul ar aghaidh leis an gcuraclam agus caithfear roinnt coincheapa agus ceachtanna nua a chlúdach le linn na tréimhse seo. Téigh i dteagmháil le múinteoir do pháiste le do thoil le haon imní nó deacrachtaí ionas gur féidir linn aghaidh a thabhairt orthu in am.
Fanaigí slán agus tugaigí aire dá chéile. Tá solas ag deireadh an tolláin agus tiocfaimid tríd seo. Guím seachtain mhaith do chách.
We have now covered 3 weeks of distance learning and I would like to thank everyone, children, parents and staff for all their work to date. We are of course living in unprecedented and uncertain times. Following a successful return to school and a highly productive first term under the circumstances, we are now in a position where schools are again closed with no definitive returning date. The dreaded home schooling / distance learning regime has recommenced when all of us would prefer to be back in the classroom and engaging in ‘normal’ teaching and learning. I honestly believe that that return will happen sooner rather than later but we await a comprehensive plan from the Government / Department. There has been much media coverage and speculation on this issue in recent weeks but no clear view yet as to how things will proceed. In the meantime, we all can only do our best to support each other.
We as a staff are well aware that each family’s circumstances are different but levels of engagement are high and there is a greater connection between school and home this time around. I appreciate that many families are struggling with the complexities of working from home or out of the home and working also with their own children. All we can ask is that people do their best. This a pandemic and hopefully we will never have to face something similar again. While academic or school work is of course important, so too is health and wellbeing. Please put these first when faced with difficulties or dilemmas with regard to your child’s learning. Please be assured that any gaps in learning WILL be addressed in a strategic way when we return, while at the same time we have been asked to continue with the normal curriculum and a number of new concepts and lessons need to be covered during this period. Please contact your child’s teacher with any concerns or difficulties so as we can best address them in time.
Please stay safe and look after one another. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we will get through this. Here’s to a good week for all.
