This year’s Cairde AGM will be held at the school TONIGHT, Wednesday 29th November at 8.30 p.m. A new committee and class reps will be elected for this school year and we will be discussing the schedule of social and fundraising events for the year.

CAIRDE: Cumann na dTuismitheoirí
Tá gach tuismitheoir/caomhnóir sa scoil ina b(h)all de CAIRDE. Toghtar príomhchoiste agus ionadaithe ranga ag tús na scoilbhliana a chomhoibríonn le Mícheál agus an Bord Bainistíochta ó thaobh thiomsú airgid agus araile. Bíonn cruinniú neamhfhoirmiúil ag Cairde uair amháin in aghaidh na míosa a mhaireann uair ar a mhéad. Ná ceap gurb é aidhm na gcruinnithe jabanna a dháileadh ar dhaoine! Cuirfear fáilte roimh gach tuismitheoir agus iarraimid oraibh teacht ó am go chéile chun braon tae a ól, bualadh le tuismitheoirí eile agus léargas a fháil ar chúrsaí a bhaineann le heispéireas scoile do pháiste féin.

Ní mór don Ghaelscoil dul i ngleic le fadhbanna ar leith nach mbíonn ag scoileanna eile. Ceann amháin de na fadhbanna sin ná nach ionann cás na Gaelscoile agus cás bunscoileanna eile atá lonnaithe i bpobail taobh amuigh do chathair Shligigh. Go hiondúil, bíonn daltaí na mbunscoileanna sin ina gcónaí sa scoilcheantar agus dá bhrí sin, bíonn sé níos éasca ar na scoileanna tacaíocht a fháil ó thuismitheoirí agus ón bpobal. Tá teaghlaigh na Gaelscoile ina gcónaí i gcéin is i gcóngar and dá bhrí sin, cé go bhfuil dlúthbhaint againn leis an bpobal ina bhfuilimid, bíonn sé fós deacair orainn tuistí a bhailiú le chéile i gcomhair imeachtaí sóisialta nó chun airgead a bhailiú ar son na scoile srl.

Tá ardchaighdeán ag baint le h-eispéireas do pháiste ar scoil toisc dianiarrachtaí fhoireann na scoile, an Bhoird agus an choiste Cairde. Murach iarrachtaí na dtuismitheoirí go háirithe, ní bheimis in ann tabléidí ICT a chur ar fáil, fearais Aistear, leabhair breise léitheoireachta, áiseanna oideachasúla a chur ar fáil do na páistí, agus neart rudaí eile. Mar sin, iarraimid oraibhse roinnt bheag ama agus tiomantais a thabhairt ar ais don scoil chun gur féidir linn leanúint orainn ag feabhsú eispéireas laethúil do pháiste. Cuimhnigh go mbainfidh gach páiste sa scoil tairbhe as iarracht ar bith uaitse, beag nó mór.

CAIRDE Parent Association
Every parent/guardian is automatically a member of CAIRDE. At the start of every school year, a core committee and class reps are elected who work with Mícheál and the Board of Management to organise fundraising and social events etc. CAIRDE holds an informal meeting about once a month, which lasts an hour at most. You will not be handed a job at the meeting so please don’t let that put you off coming! Everyone is welcome and we would ask you to come at least once to have a cuppa, chat with other parents and get some insight into the issues that directly affect your child.

The Gaelscoil faces obstacles that other schools do not. One of those obstacles is that while most other primary schools are located in communities outside Sligo town and have a catchment area of students, Gaelscoil students travel to the school from far and wide, which makes it harder for the school to get the support of parents and the community. Even though Gaelscoil has built up close links with the local community, it is not as easy for us to get parents together for social and fundraising events.

The joint efforts of the school team, the Board of Management and CAIRDE ensure that your child enjoys a high-quality educational experience. If it wasn’t for the voluntary efforts of parents in particular, it would be difficult to provide facilities such as technology items (Tablets), infant equipment, library books and other necessary resources. So we’re asking you to now to give a little time and commitment back to the school to enable us to continue providing a high standard of education for your child. Even one hour of your spare time is invaluable to us. Remember that every child in the school will benefit from any effort you make on the school’s behalf, big or small. Bearing that in mind, we hope to see you at some of our activities and meetings throughout the year.
